Slain Woman Was Friends With Maryland Rapper Believed Killed By Same Man: Cops

Heartbreak has struck two Rockville families following the killings of 27-year-old Leilani Marroquin and her friend and rapper, 25-year-old Marcell Jordan Hebron, also known as "Lil Xelly."

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help cover funeral expenses as their loved ones cope with the unimaginable loss.

Leilani’s family shared their grief in a statement on the fundraiser page: “We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Leilani and her friend Marcell. We are devastated and cannot imagine life without these beautiful souls.”

The tragedy unfolded on Friday, Jan. 17, when Montgomery County Police discovered Hebron’s body inside a bullet-riddled BMW at the intersection of Shady Grove Road and Research Boulevard around 3:15 a.m. Just hours later, at 7:40 a.m., officers found Marroquin dead in a parking lot on Research Court, with shell casings scattered nearby.

Police quickly linked the two murders and arrested Kaloyan Dimov Stoev, 25, later that day in Rockville. Stoev, who had two firearms on him at the time, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and remains held without bond as investigators work to uncover a motive.

The GoFundMe campaign aims to ease the financial burden on both families during this harrowing time. “No amount is too small, and every bit is greatly appreciated,” the family wrote.

“Thank you for your support, love, and prayers during this heartbreaking time. Your generosity means the world to us,” they added, inviting anyone who wishes to honor Leilani and Marcell’s memory to contribute.
